Townsville

Social Sport
JCUSA Sport offers Social Sport every semester over a ten week period (weather permitting).  Social Sport begins in week three of each semester.  Netball is one 5 sports offered to students on the Townsville Campus.  Netball is also part of the rounders competition where students play a different sport each week. 

Social Sport co-ed (mixed competition) and is also open the general public (along with students). 

Social Sport will begin on Monday March 7 in semester 1 with Social Sport in Semester 2 to begin on Monday August 8.

JCU Townsville Residential College Competition
The JCU Townsville Residential College Competition is a year long inter-college sporting competition in Townsville for JCU residential college students.  It comprises of 10 sports; and is the ultimate case for bragging rights on campus!  Netball is one of 10 sports held during the JCU Townsville Residential College Competition calendar with the event having a men’s and women’s competition. 

The netball event will be held over four weeks with the event beginning on Wednesday August 24.

Interfaculty Sport
Interfaculty Sport is a FREE sports program in Townsville where students are eligible to play/represent their enrolled faculty.  Interfaculty Sport comprises of 6 sports; and is the ultimate case for bragging rights amongst faculties!  Netball is one of 6 sports held during the Interfaculty Sport calendar with the event having a women’s competition.  

The netball event will be held over four weeks with the event beginning on Wednesday October 5.

Uni v Army
Each year JCU competes against the Army in a variety of sports in a one day effort in an effort to strengthen the bonds between the University and Army communities.  The event is also known as ‘Battle of the Icons’, features women’s netball as part of the schedule. 

The event date is still to be confirmed however the event will most likely to occur in September/October. 

Facilities
The Townsville Campus has two multipurpose outdoors courts to play netball.  These courts are free to use for students throughout the semester from 6am-6pm 7 days a week (as long as there is not an event already booked). 

Cairns

Uni v Navy
Starting in 2021, the Cairns based JCU Students competed against the Navy in a variety of sports in a one day effort in an effort to strengthen the bonds between the University and Navy communities.  The event is back in 2022 which, features mixed netball at the Cairns Indoor Sports Centre. 

The event date is Wednesday August 3.

JCU Representation

Each year JCU sends teams to compete at UniSport Nationals.  The UniSport Nationals provide an opportunity for students at 43 member universities from across Australia (including JCU) to compete head to head in a number of national standard sporting competitions.  UniSport Nationals is the largest multi-sporting event held in Australia every year with its flagship event Nationals Div 1 and Div 2 hosting up to 10,000 students each year.
