Wudarabin Snider

My name is Wudarabin Snider, and I am a proud Kuku Yalanji Bama (Aboriginal) from Laura, Quinkan Country, Far North Queensland, and a Gwamu, Murridi from Bollin, Queensland.
I am currently studying a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) full-time, majoring in Art and History, at JCU Nguma-bada campus in Cairns. I am currently the President of the Bama Nguma Barra Indigenous Student Association (BNBISA).
Within the association, I support organising events that bring Mob (First Nations peoples) and all students together, creating an inclusive space where all students feel seen and heard. I am also currently the First Nations Officer on the JCUSA Council. Although this year my focus has been on running BNBISA, my contribution to the JCUSA as the First Nations Officer would be to share our culture and values.
I want to host events to share culture with all students. These could include dilly bag-making classes and cultural food experiences.
I will promote and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' cultures, languages and contributions to James Cook University. I will pay my respects and acknowledge the traditional custodians of the Cairns area, the Gimuy Walubara Yidinji and Yirrganydji mob, and elders past and present. I will ensure that all students are welcome and safe to express themselves.
The James Cook University Student Association works closely with the James Cook University. Please visit www.jcu.edu.au to find out more.
The James Cook University Student Association acknowledge the Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the traditional owners of the lands and waters where we live, study and work. We pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging.
