Gunyarra Cup

The Gunyarra Cup is a year-long inter-college sporting competition in Cairns for JCU residential college students. This competition has been running since 2018 and is continuing to grow each year. The Gunyarra Cup comprises 5 sports, and is the ultimate case for bragging rights on campus!

The Gunyarra Cup competition comes to an exciting finish at JCU Sports Awards, where the crowning of the Gunyarra Cup Champions are announced.

  • Touch Football
  • Crossnet

All sports are mixed (co-ed) competition. 

Cost

From the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) funding allocation to the JCU Student Association, it was decided that Gunyarra Cup would be fully subsidised by SSAF funding.  Therefore, it is free to participate in however you must be a student currently living on campus at one of the colleges.  This is to encourage more students to participate in this sporting competition and to make sports more accessible to all students.
