Townsville

Facilities
The Townsville Campus has a dedicated eSports facility that was completed in 2020.  The eSports facility is located at the Social Sciences (building 4).  The facility is free to use for students throughout the academic year however you must have a valid Student ID to access the facility. 

Cairns

Gunyarra Cup
The Gunyarra Cup is a year long inter-college sporting competition in Cairns for JCU residential college students.  It comprises of 6 sports; and is the ultimate case for bragging rights on campus!  Esports is one of 6 sports held during the Gunyarra Cup calendar with the event. 

The eSports event will be held on Saturday September 17.

Clubs

Townsville

The current affiliated club at our Townsville Campus is the Society of Manga, Anime and Gaming (SOMAG) club.  SOMAG have a variety of activities including weekly movie screenings and monthly game nights.  The club also helps organise and run the League of Legends competition.  You can join their club by joining their Facebook Page HERE or emailing the club at [email protected]

Cairns

There is currently no eSports club existing on the Cairns Campus.  If you are interested in helping to start a club up on campus, please email [email protected] as well as [email protected]

JCU Representation

Each year JCU sends teams to compete at UniSport Nationals.  The UniSport Nationals provide an opportunity for students at 43 member universities from across Australia (including JCU) to compete head to head in a number of national standard sporting competitions.  UniSport Nationals is the largest multi-sporting event held in Australia every year with its flagship event Nationals Div 1 and Div 2 hosting up to 10,000 students each year.
