Townsville
The University Hawks AFL Club are the Affiliated AFL Club of JCUSA and compete in the AFLQ Men’s & Women’s Competitions. The Hawks welcome players of all skills weather they are studying or not. They use JCU as their home base for training sessions (Tuesdays & Thursdays on the AFL Oval) and home games are held at the premium AFL venue in Townsville – Riverway Stadium Saturdays.

Cairns

Townsville
Winna Shield
Winna Shield is a year long inter-college sporting competition in Townsville for JCU residential college students. It comprises of 9 sports; and is the ultimate case for bragging rights on campus! Due to popular demand, this year AFL is back on the Winna Shield calendar.
The AFL event will be held from March 8-24.

Cairns
There are currently no programs on the Cairns Campus that include AFL. We are continuing to grow sport and recreation on the Cairns Campus with plans to include AFL.
JCU Representation
Each year JCU sends teams to compete at UniSport Nationals. The UniSport Nationals provide an opportunity for students at 43 member universities from across Australia (including JCU) to compete head to head in a number of national standard sporting competitions. UniSport Nationals is the largest multi-sporting event held in Australia every year with its flagship event Nationals Div 1 and Div 2 hosting up to 10,000 students each year.
