Muhammad Muhib Asim

International students don’t just need a seat at the table. They need someone who knows what it’s like to sit down at a new one.
I'm Muhammad Muhib Asim, an international student and former Senior Deputy Head Boy. I led a council of 26 students and served as the bridge between students and faculty, organizing events across sports, inclusion, wellbeing and graduation, while maintaining academic excellence. Having completed the Youth Ambassador Program for Inclusion and volunteered as an assistant teacher for students with special needs, I know belonging has to be created for everyone.
My priorities: make sure international students'; voices are heard, bring international and domestic students together, and keep communication open between students and faculty. My first initiative is a Saved Seat, a program pairing every new international student with a returning student, backed by a student-faculty forum each trimester so feedback leads to action. I plan for the long run, so what we build outlasts any term.
I'm running because I know what it means to start somewhere new, and I believe in JCU's values of diversity and social responsibility. Adaptable, collaborative and proven in teamwork, I'm ready to build a community where every student belongs.
