JCUSA Sport Winna Shield and Interfaculty Sport Awards 2023

On Friday 28th of October we held our Annual JCUSA Sport Awards. This event is a night where we come together to review the year of sport at JCU. 2023 marked the 54th year of our inter college competition, Winna Shield, as well as our free Interfaculty Sport competition that is open to all students and staff at JCU.

This year we were excited to expand our Winna Shield AFL competition from a 9-a-side format to a full size AFL matches in both the men's and women’s competitions. This proved to be a thrilling contest and one of our closest competitions of the year. We also introduced Women’s Rugby League 9’s to our Interfaculty League format, with our faculties playing a “state of origin” like 3 game contest. It was great to see large numbers and plenty of support for this competition!

The sports awards was also a great opportunity to celebrate our highest achieving students throughout the year. Congratulations to those who won awards and a huge thank you to all students that go involved in our sports programs throughout the year!
