JCUSA Sport can confirm that Campbell Yates and Alex Munro will help prepare the Men’s Rugby 7s side to compete at UniSport Nationals Div 1.
JCUSA have already secured Campbell to be the women’s coach for the second straight year however he will also coach the men’s side at the event with Alex Munro to help prepare the team in the lead up to the competition.
Alex is currently Campbell’s assistant coach for the women’s team at the JCU Rugby Union club.
"I saw this year that the men’s competition was run on separate days back-to-back before the women’s competition which allows me to prepare both sides equally. It is also a better way to run a rugby 7s competition held across two days back-to-back” Campbell Yates said.
JCUSA Sport and Recreation Manager Teisha Condie is happy to have Campbell and Alex to help with the men’s side.
“A discussion was brought up about having Campbell coach both sides however when he brought to our attention that Alex has the experience to help organise teams (in particular rugby 7s) we thought this would be a great addition also”.
The men’s rugby 7s side will be competing at UniSport Nationals Div 1 from September 29 – October 4.
JCU will be sending men’s and women’s rugby 7s, men’s and women’s water polo, women’s netball and men’s pairs and mixed fours beach volleyball.
