Townsville

Winna Shield
Winna Shield is a year long inter-college sporting competition in Townsville for JCU residential college students.  It comprises of 10 sports; and is the ultimate case for bragging rights on campus!  Basketball is one of 9 sports held during the Winna Shield calendar with the event having a men’s and women’s competition. 

The basketball event will be held over two weeks with the event beginning on Tuesday April 9.

Interfaculty Sport
Interfaculty Sport is a FREE sports program in Townsville where students are eligible to play/represent their enrolled faculty.  Interfaculty Sport comprises of 6 sports; and is the ultimate case for bragging rights amongst faculties!  Basketball 3v3 is one of 6 sports held during the Interfaculty Sport calendar with the event having a men’s and women’s competition.

Uni v Army
Each year JCU competes against the Army in a variety of sports in a one day effort in an effort to strengthen the bonds between the University and Army communities.  The event is also known as ‘Battle of the Icons’, features men’s basketball (to be played at either Townsville Stadium or Townsville Basketball Stadium) as part of the schedule. 

The event date is still to be confirmed however the event will most likely to occur in September/October. 

Facilities
The Townsville Campus has two multipurpose outdoors courts to play basketball.  These courts are free to use for students throughout the semester from 6am-6pm 7 days a week (as long as there is not an event already booked). 

Cairns

Gunyarra Cup
The Gunyarra Cup is a year long inter-college sporting competition in Cairns for JCU residential college students.  It comprises of 5 sports; and is the ultimate case for bragging rights on campus!  3x3 Basketball is one of 6 sports held during the Gunyarra Cup calendar with the event holding a mixed competition.

Facilities
The Cairns Campus has a brand new half-basketball court located outside building A24.  This court are free to use for students throughout the semester.  No booking is required to use the facility.

JCU Representation

Each year JCU sends teams to compete at UniSport Nationals.  The UniSport Nationals provide an opportunity for students at 43 member universities from across Australia (including JCU) to compete head to head in a number of national standard sporting competitions.  UniSport Nationals is the largest multi-sporting event held in Australia every year with its flagship event Nationals Div 1 and Div 2 hosting up to 10,000 students each year.
